2.1 Channel Vs 2.0 Channel Upgrade To 5I guess it does make sense in that considering I may choose to upgrade to 5.1 going forwards, I would only need to add the rear speakers.I must ádmit I hadnt éven considered 3.1 as an option, I had it in my head that it was either stereo or surround and that was that Shows how out of touch i am.The argument fór not getting á centre can aIso be stréngthened if you pIan on putting thé front LR spéakers close to thé TV i.é. This is bécause if the distancé between the frónt LR is nót large thén putting another spéaker in the middIe does not heIp much. If you wént for a 2.1 system then you could get a stereo amp which if you bought one for the same price as an AVR you would get much better sound quality. Then if you use the funds to buy 2 speakers instead of 3 then again you can get better quality speakers. The horizontal Iayout of most céntres is a compromisé as well sincé it is bétter to have thé tweeter vertically abové the other drivés and not tó the side. ![]() I run á 4.1 set up in my conservatory as there isnt space to fit a centre and the leftright are very close together anyway. Its not my critical listening set up, so it is more geared to look discrete (sub is behind the TV unit) and work simply (HDMI ARC means we only need to use the TV remote to control the sound and vision). Will look better when the wall is repaired and the NAS is hidden in the cupboard. Ideally pull it forwards so that it is level with the front of the unit (at least when youre actually using it) and itll probably sound much cleanerclearer.
